In 1993 the first 9F-caliber was released. It yielded progress in every aspect. The hands were as long as those of any other Grand Seico watch, the calendar change was immediate and the durability and reliability were improved. Calibre 9F included major innovations such as an automatic backlash adjustment mechanism to eliminate the vibration of the second hand, a double-pulse control system for higher torque, and a special construction to minimize the risk of dust coming into contact with the gearing and pedaling motor. No effort was spared and to this day Calibre 9F can claim to be the best performing quartz watch in the world.
