"Sharp Edged Series"
The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series is a new design series with the original and powerful look of Japanese artistry. The simplicity and sophistication of traditional Japanese aesthetics is captured in a subtly textured dial and is perfected by the contemporary design with a clean-lined, angular case and strap construction.
Watch case and band of the Presage Sharp Edged Series contain many flat surfaces with sharp corners. Which gives the watches a shiny and brilliant appearance at every angle. The extremely precisely cut and polished surfaces with the sharp edges contrast with the "matte finish" to create a subtle multidimensional effect in the silhouette.
The dial features the Japanese Asanoha or hemp leaf pattern, which has been used in Japanese designs since the Heian period - over a thousand years ago. The fibers that make up the stem were originally used to manufacture fabrics. The pattern of the leaf symbolizes strong, rapid growth and health especially in young people. The sharp geometric pattern and rich texture of the dials, when light plays over them at different angles, creates a constantly changing image.
Each model offers dials in a different traditional Japanese color: Shironeri, silky white; Aitetsu, or indigo iron; Tokiwa, the color of evergreen trees; Susutake, the reddish-brown color of smoked bamboo; and Sumiiro, the color of east Indian ink.
The sharp corners of the hands and indexes improve the legibility of the dial!
These four watches are powered by the 8-beat GMT automatic caliber 6R64. The GMT hand on each model is executed in a different color to best contrast with the underlying dial. All hands and indexes are generously coated with Lumibrite to ensure legibility. The GMT hand can also be used as a second time indicator. In which the hour hand is adjustable even if the minute and second hands continue to indicate the time. The rings around the dial are done in two colors to distinguish the day and night hours at a glance. The date is displayed on a small dial at the six o'clock position and there is a power reserve indicator at nine o'clock.
